HOT IN AUGUST!!

The month of August has been a busy time in and around the Greensboro clubhouse.  Attempting to make moves to shore up a playoff run in 2023 have proven not to work out, as messages went unanswered.  So Greensboro went about business to see what they could do in the month at home, and the boys of Charcoal and Emerald did not disappoint.  Greensboro went an impressive 10-2 with sweeping the likes of Albany, Busters and Gilead, before dropping two of three to Mississippi.  Highlighting the month was the solid pitching of Jordan Montgomery, who now sits at 20 wins, though his ERA ballooned to 1.13 as well as a bullpen who was stellar in the shutting down games with the likes of Morejon, Vesia, and Romano.  Usage totals of Greensboro arms appear to have plenty of gas in the tank for a run at the post season.   Offensively, the Smoke played great baseball with the likes of Schwarber hitting multiple home runs to bring his team leading total to 35, while slighted 2022 MVP Cedric Mullins just keeps plugging along with Gold Glove Defense, a .291 average, a team high 34 doubles, 8 triples, and 37 stolen bases.

September is the time that things begin to shift as the Smoke with their 80-46 record start to make moves as they seem that they may secure the three seed in the playoffs and need to up their road record for a shot at the postseason title.

IT'S JULY 2023, AND THE SMOKE IS HAVING ANOTHER GREAT YEAR!

It would seem that the boys of Charcoal and Emerald have had some "best of times and worst of times" moments in July.  They did have quite the haul with the likes of the new powerhouse, Shoreline,  the perennial winner, Richmond,  defending champion Virginia, but the Smoke were able to go 10-5 with a couple of moments of brilliance.  Like the Back-to-Back-to-Back Homeruns, or the team accolades of the month.  The team enjoyed a team batting clip of .277/.349/.478 highlighted by 22 two-baggers, 6 triples and 23 Home Runs with 81 RBI in 15 games.  Highlighting this Kyle Schwarber with a team high 7 roundtrippers and 14 RBI, and a robust .333 batting average.
